Recovering a Lost or Stolen iPhone

Cell Phones are very expensive nowadays and have become a necessity for almost everyone. They play a vital role in our work and everyday lives.  Apple’s iPhone, like any other smart phone with the potential to store major amounts of personal information, can put you at risk for identity theft if it is lost or stolen.

When you discover that your iPhone has been stolen, dozens of thoughts race through your mind all at once. Anger, worry and surprise are all likely to come to mind. Fortunately, by using some security tips, GPS and MobileSyncPro you can ease the pain of a lost iPhone.

There are a few things that can be done with your iPhone out of the box that will add to the iPhone’s security and discourage thieves at no extra cost. At any rate, security measures to protect your iPhone must be done BEFORE your iPhone is lost or stolen.

Setting up Tracking:

Install MobileSyncPro: The MobileSyncPro app allows you to locate your device, send an alert messages when the SIM card is changed, or wipe the iPhone’s data remotely. This small program stays hidden and runs silently at every start-up. MobileSyncPro is available for downloading from iTunes. Once set up, log in to the web panel and begin syncing your iPhone.

SIM change alerts can be set by specifying which mobile number to which the SIM alert SMS message should be sent to. Then turn on GPS and Remote Wipe features.

The GPS feature will have the mobile phone automatically send location information with every sync of the device.

The web panel’s Recovery section allows real-time tracking of the iPhone, as well as  the ability to send commands such as Lock Device, Wipe, or Enable Sound.

What to do AFTER your iPhone is lost or stolen:

Recovering Your Device: So, now you’ve gone and lost your iPhone.  Well done! Now we have the fun trying to get it back. First of all, stay calm! If you’ve followed the steps above, you should be able to use the GPS to locate your iPhone device. For this to work, you will need to hope that your iPhone has an internet connection.

Log into the MobileSyncPro Server to see where your phone is. Immediately go to the recovery option, add your iPhone number and click the Lock Button. Then try to locate it using the Map option.

With this you can get some GPS coordinates and a street name which you can locate through Google Maps.  At this point, you can try to track down and confront the thief yourself (not recommended)  or you can file a police report and get them to go pick up the iPhone for you. If the cell phone is somewhere near you and you are unable to locate it you can use the enable sound feature. This will play a continuous tone at the highest volume, to help locate it. The device will not be usable until you send an UNLOCK command.

Finally…
I hope that this article will help at least help one person to successfully recover a lost or stolen iPhone device.
